In addition to the very well thought and valid causes that a new party needs to stand for, I received another interesting viewpoint - that the political forces are too strong in order to form a new party, and that we need to change the system from within. I think this is a big challenge and would need to prepare to handle it well. I believe that the following two components are crucial for a democracy to function effectively - 1) a government that truly keeps the interest of its people at its core
2) a people who have the strength to question the government and demand accountability regularly
Today we have lost both these things.
- We have a government that cares about nobody. The heads of state are dummies and the powers behind them are dumb and selfish.
- as a nation we have allowed our indifference and "patience" and "tolerance" and "chalta hai" attitude to lead us here. While a new party would aim at freshening up our governance, we also need people to be brave enough step up and act as auditors of our system, and formalize the process. However, we need to first clean up the governance. The reason we haven't been able to question our powers that be is precisely that the political forces are too strong.

The problem of a failing democracy in India has to be solved at multiple levels.
1. Be the government
2. Hold the government accountable
The long term goal remains to cleanup the government, by well meaning, middle class citizens being part of government. I would like to talk of small, actionable steps that we can start on immediately.
While I was not commenting on this blog for the past few days, what I was busy doing was my voter registration.
How many of us vote for the election of our government? How many of us have ever voted? I have been a party to this crime till now. But I vow to amend my ways.
I strongly urge all to register themselves as voters and come out and vote on the election day.
Once I complete my voter registration, I will write more about the process and we can all participate in a major voter registration drive.

The key problem today is that Government(80% Bureaucrats 20% politicians)do not do their job. It is practically impossible to audit every Government department.
Although security is a major concern now -poverty and poor living conditions of people are the biggest problems to be solved.
I would say the way to attack the problem is to have a party in long run and in short run try to audit the government functioning by using PIL and RTI.
